I'm pretty sure I first ran across your work and became a fan in 200...1? I still have a marker drawing you did of Often in a frame on my wall. Learning that you've come back to finish Return To Sender after all this time is so exciting! I've been wishing that we got to find out what was going on with those letters for DECADES!

Bluh - SO excited! We preordered it from our local bookshop, so I guess I'll start carrying my phone around everywhere waiting for The Call. Congrats, Vera! I love hearing the backstory of how it came to be, and I'm fascinated to see how your visual storytelling skills transfer to written storytelling skills (with some illustrations!).

I was also at SDCC in 2003! (Living in L.A. and Lisa Hanawalt was like, "Isn't that this weekend?" and we drove down with our friend Andy and bought tickets at the door and just walked in - how things have changed! ha ha). Blankets debuted! I met Scott McCloud for the first time! What a show....

I read this in one sitting over the weekend. I realize I'm not the demographic, but I don't think there are age limits on book (I'm sure you agree!). I've been laid up with Covid, and it was the perfect opportunity to spend all morning reading on the couch. I loved it, super fun!

As someone who was of similar age and an active follower of Return to Sender, Strings of Fate, and all the Pants Press projects I’m so excited for this and happy for you!! Congratulations, I cannot wait to own this book.

Awesome, instant buy! Your comic was a great inspiration for me in high school.

Also it's great to read about its evolution.

By the way, the transparent png-s aren't well visible on a phone with a dark theme! The background is dark gray and it makes the pictures hard to see.

Best wishes on your novel tour! The best things we like that we create don’t always just happen easily. Many people think they do. The harder they are to meet with our satisfaction the more we learn about ourselves. You’ve accomplished that. ICQ. I haven’t heard anyone mention that in a long time. That brings back memories.

The Pants Press crew were my idols as a kid. The idea that someone my age could draw and write and put it on the internet? What a concept. I meant to say 'thank you' back then, so consider this a piece of delayed mail, 25 years in the post.

I'm so excited to read Return to Sender in its new form and even more excited to give it to my niece and send that little spark of inspiration forward to the next generation. Congratulations!

That's amazing Vera! I double down on you putting your heart into everything you do, you just have to! I love that about your content and books. I'm located in South America so I don't know if they ship here...do you know if it will be available in Europe? I'll be visiting soon and would love to buy a copy!!

Oh, I can't wait to read this and to see you when you visit Denver! I'm intrigued by this story, and know it'll be great if it's anything like any of the graphic novels I've read of yours. You're one of those few creators I'll buy anything from sight unseen.

Congratulations! Such a great story. I’ve written and illustrated an MG graphic novel but thinking of turning it into a Chapter Book. Like you, I love the idea of using prose to tell a story with a lot of illustrations. I’m curious to know how much design input you had regarding the layout of the text with the illustrations.

Thanks! I’m off to purchase your book. Can’t wait to read it!

I had lots of design input! The art director laid it out with my sketches, but there was tons of back and forth adding more illustrations, switching them out for different ones, etc. I'm lucky to work with people who are very good at their work! She did a really amazing job laying them out in a way that made sense, but every illustration pushes the text around in different ways, and it was interesting to see how it rippled through.
